As I've said before and the debate last night only confirmed it: We can't ignore this woman, nor should we no matter what our personal opinions may be. There's an insidiously, creeping stench lurking just under the surface of her glitter and smiles.

The conclusion I drew from this so-called debate was that this woman can effectively memorize and read. She's still showing she's devoid of any of the qualities that would make a fair and just leader.

Oh my, Ark, I always enjoy your blog entries. You are so very thoughtful, and as am I, painfully self-aware. My Achilles heel is my self-awareness... it is also, my best quality, and I believe it is yours. Someone should do a study on the relationship of self-awareness to polticial party affiliation. I cannot imagine that Sarah Palin is self-aware. If she was she would have been able to have expressed at least a tiny shred of sympathy for Joe Biden's loss. This is a woman who has a special needs child...a different but nonetheless personal crisis that should foster some form of sympathetic response. And yet, no.

She is Don Henley's bubble headed bleach blond with the gleam in her eye. She can and did deliver some of her most frightening comments with a smile and effervescence completely inappropriate for her words.

In particular her reference to the US and its nuclear arsenal being for "deterrence" terrifies me personally, but more importantly, it is one of those "looking backward" kinds of things she aimed at Joe Biden. That idea is so Cold War, a time when we were in far more danger of being instantly flash fried than we are now. To me it sounds like she and McCain are simply salivating at the possibility of getting their hands on that particular tool, the most dangerous cudgel in the world. Once they have it, McCain may well decide to take revenge on his captors. Paranoid? Oh sure. Justified? Maybe.

Tomorrow IS another day, but you have to live each moment in the current one to appreciate how blessed you are to HAVE another day...and then repeat the cycle.

The Bush Administration has darkened a lot of days, but there is always light that shines from US...we just need to see and understand what our potential is as a species. We need to get through this election, and perhaps we will understand ourselves (Humanity) better if Obama wins. If the reverse happens, than I can only hope we see wisdom through the clouds that will indeed be darker...and that means that our souls must shine that much brighter.

But the Joe Six-packs aren't interested in substance. They'll eat it up that she was just like them. Sigh.... I agree that Biden has her all beat to hell and back on substance. But most voters don't vote on subtance. And she won some great style points. The mere fact that she could manage to sound coherent (as opposed to her interviews with Katie Couric) won her points with her base. And they were beginning to flee. So, she did what she needed to do tonight. She reminded me of the Scarlett O'Hara's last line in "Gone With the Wind" where she says "tomorow's another day." Don't look back. Don't try to understand what got us here, just soldier on.
